India have announced their squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. There have been no such surprise names in the squad, while some players have been excluded. Suryakumar Yadav who featured in the India ODI squad for the 2023 World Cup, has been snubbed from the Champions Trophy 2025 squad. He, however, is the T20I captain of India and will lead the team in the five-match series vs England. Ahead of the first T20I of the series, he has now finally reacted on his snub from the mega tournament.
In the pre-match press conference before the Kolkata T20I, Suryakumar Yadav accepted the fact that he has not done well in ODIs and that whoever has been selected for the tournament are all good performers. However, he accepted the fact that it hurts to not having performed well in the 50-over format.
"Why would it hurt? If I do well, I would have been in the Champions Trophy. If I don't do well, it's important to accept that. And at the same time, if you see the (CT) squad, it's looking really good. Whoever is there, they are all good performers. They have done relatively well in that format for India and also playing domestic cricket and I am very happy for them," Suryakumar Yadav said.
"It hurts to think that I have not done well. And if I had done well, I would have stayed there. If I haven't done well, someone who deserves to have done really well, deserves to be there," the Indian T20I captain added.
