India are set to return to white-ball cricket when they take on England in the first T20I of the five-match series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on January 22. The team will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, who returns to action for Team India for the first time since the T20I series against South Africa. The star right-handed batter now has the chance to create history in the match, as he could become the first player in the world to achieve a feat, and go past T20I stalwarts like Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma.
Suryakumar Yadav is just one of the three players ever to score a century against England in T20Is. He slammed 117 in Nottingham in 2022. If he scores another century in the 1st T20I in Kolkata, then he will become the first-ever player in history to score more than one century in the shortest format of the game against England.
Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma are the only other players to score a ton against England in the shortest format of the game.
Arshdeep Singh Chasing 100 T20I Wickets
Arshdeep Singh is currently India's all-time second-highest wicket-taker, with 95 scalps to his name. If he takes five more wickets in the series against England, then he will become the first player from India to take 100 wickets in T20Is. In fact, he needs just two more wickets to surpass Yuzvendra Chahal to become the Indian with the most wickets in the shortest format of the game.
Here are the Indians with the most wickets in T20Is:
Yuzvendra Chahal- 96
Arshdeep Singh- 95
Bhuvneshwar Kumar- 90
Jasprit Bumrah- 89
Hardik Pandya- 89
