Rajasthan Royals Full Retention List For IPL 2025: Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal IN; Yuzvendra Chahal Released- Report

The IPL is all set to return in its 18th edition in 2025. Before the season kicks off, the teams will have to go through the mega auction, which returns for the first time since 2022. Teams will be allowed to retain and release players until the retention window closes on October 31. One of he franchises that fans woulsbe looking forward to as to what their retention strategy would be is Rajasthan Royals. Reportedly, they have confirmed three retentions, with another big name likely to join the list.
Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag Retained
According to a report by The Indian Express, Rajasthan Royals are all set to retain their captain and star India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, star opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and young sensation Riyan Parag. All three are now integral parts of the Team India T20I setup right now. The report also states that he franchise are also in talks with Jos Buttler to be their fourth retention. This means that players like Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal are all set to be released by the franchise ahead of the auction.
How Much Purse Will Rajasthan Royals Have After All Retentions?
According to the new IPL retention rules, a franchise can retain not more than six players, with a maximum of 5 capped players and a maximum of 2 uncapped players. The first retention will be valued at 18 crore, the second at 14 crore and the third at 11 crore respectively. The fourth retention, if it is a capped player, will again cost Rs 18 crore. If all four reported retentions go through for Rajasthan Royals, then they will remain with Rs 68 crores heading into the auction.
In addition, the Rajasthan Royals will also be given a chance to bring back two more players with two RTM cards.
