India's Day To Forget In Bengaluru
After Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first in Bengaluru, the decision backfired on the hosts on Day 2. The New Zealand pacers made full use of the overcast conditions and bowled out India for just 46, their lowest-ever total at home.
Matt Henry was the star of the show with a five-wicket haul while William ORourke took four wickets. Five Indian batters namely Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin were dismissed for ducks.
In reply, a half-century from Devon Conway has ensured the Black Caps already have a 100-run lead.
Ajinkya Rahane's Exile From Team India
Rahane was the vice-captain of the Indian team for more than five years and led the country in six Test matches. He was among the finest batters of the generation in the longest format for India, having played 85 Tests. He scored 5077 runs at an average of 38.5 with 12 centuries.
However, India dropped him from the squad in 2022 after a series defeat in South Africa. After more than a year on the sidelines, he received a shock recall to the Rohit Sharma-led team for the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) final. Later, he was named in the squad for the tour of West Indies, which proved to be his last outing for the national team so far.
He was dropped from the squad for the South Africa tour last year and did not earn a comeback for the home series against England despite the absence of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul and the decision to drop Shreyas Iyer.
