Why Sarfaraz Khan Came Out At No.4 Instead Of Virat Kohli?

In an interaction after the play on Day 2, India captain Rohit Sharma said that they wanted to play Sarfaraz Khan at his usual position in the middle or lower-middle order at no.4, 5, or 6. While there were calls to promote KL Rahul to no.3 in the absence of Gill, Rohit said that they did not want to change the batting order of both Rahul and Rishabh Pant. Hence, it was Virat Kohli who was promoted to no.3.
"We wanted to give Sarfraz the position that he usually bats four, five, six maybe. But we didn't want to change Rishabh and KL (Rahul). Hence, Sarfraz went at four and Virat batted at three," Rohit said.
