Former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Parvez Rasool has made a shocking claim and said that he rates the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) tougher than the IPL. The two leagues are often played at the same time. Many Indian players who have gone unsold in the IPL auctions have played in the DPL. The matches are played in 50-over format.
Rasool, who also represented Sunrisers Hyderabad and Pune Warriors in IPL, made a shocking reveal and said that the players only get a two-match contract in DPL. Those who fail to perform are sent back.
"I played five years in Bangladesh, Dhaka League. I rate Dhaka league tougher than IPL. I played IPL also. I played Dhaka League also. Tougher why I told you because in IPL you get a contract, right. You get selected and then whether you play or not, you get a contract," he said on Off Script by WJ.
"So it depends on the team, if you are doing good, if you are not doing good in 1 or 2 matches, then you get dropped and stay with the team. But when you play in Dhaka League, altogether, there is a lot of pressure. Why? Because they are giving you a two-match contract only."
Rasool further claimed that some big players have also been sent back after they failed to perform. "If you do well in two matches, then you go on. If you fail, you get your return ticket after third match. I won't take any names, but there have been some big players, who played and were sent back after 2-3 matches," he added.
In 2014, Rasool became the first player from Jammu and Kashmir to play for Team India. He played one ODI and a T20I for India. His ODI debut came against Bangladesh in June 2014.
In January 2017, he donned his maiden T20I cap against England in Kanpur. A domestic cricket veteran, Rasool has played 95 first-class, 164 List A and 71 T20 matches.
