Neymar’s football career continues to be ravaged by threatening injuries. The Brazilian star joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal from PSG in 2023 but has barely played last year.
Al-Hilal paid a whopping transfer fee to secure the services of the former FC Barcelona forward. But the Brazilian has been kept on the sidelines due to prolonged injury issues and there have been reports the Saudi Arabian side considering terminating his contract in a bid to make up their losses.
As per Foot Mercato, the Brazilian star received a fat cheque of £84.6million (€101 million) last year alone in wages. PSG reportedly paid a whopping £ 200 million for Neymar in 2017 but since then his stock has seriously fallen for injuries.
Neymar reportedly pockets to the tune of £130million per season which is one of the highest in the world currently. Neymar has also been linked with a move to Inter Miami which could possibly result in a reunion with Neymar, Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. But manager Javier Mascherano recently ruled out a move for the star forward.
As quoted by Sportstar he said, “We cannot talk about Ney because we have nothing
“Obviously Ney is a great player. Every coach in the world wants him but at the moment, but you know the MLS rules around the salary cap. So for us in this moment, it’s impossible to try to think about him.”
With the January transfer window currently open, Neymar can still leave Al-Hilal if the two parties agree to a mutual termination. A move to Brazilian side Santos has been mooted but the player needs to take a massive pay cut in order to facilititate a move.
