India will face New Zealand in the 1st Test in Bengaluru starting from October 16. The hosts are riding high following their 2-0 series win over Bangladesh.
India have been quite dominant on home soil and the Kiwis last had success back in 1988 when they defeated the Dilip Vengsarkar-led Indian Team. India have shown their might on home soil and anticipation has already started to build ahead of the series.
Bowling combination will be one thing which will have to be worked out. India opted for a three pacer lineup in both the Test matches against Bangladesh as Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah bowled with their heart out.
The Bengaluru pitch tends to help the fast bowlers but head coach Gautam Gambhir didn’t divulge the details as he insisted they will have a look at the pitch and will decide the team after that only.
As quoted by India Today he said, "It (combination) depends on conditions, wicket and opposition. The best part about this dressing room is that we've got so many high-quality players and we can select any of them. We know they can do the job for us. That is what is called depth. We'll have a look at the wicket tomorrow. We'll have a chat and see what is the best combination to do the job at the Chinnaswamy Stadium."
"Obviously, we've got a lot of quality, not only Kuldeep Yadav, but we've got a lot of other quality bowlers in the squad," Gambhir said. "We only select the playing 11 who can do the job for us."
