India are currently taking on Australia in the 3rd Test of the five-match series for the Border-Gavaskar trophy at the iconic Gabba Cricket Ground in Brisbane. The match has been a tense one between the two sides, in what is a crucial game for Team India's hopes to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final. The game has been heavily affected by rain so far, and has helped India somewhat edge closer to a draw after four days. Now Team India and the fans would be hoping for rain to interfere on Day 5 as well to increase the chances of a draw.

According to Accuweather.con, there is a massive chance of rainfall throughout December 18 i.e. Day 5 of the India Vs Australia third Test at Brisbane. There are 90% chances of rain throughout the day, including a 54% probability of thunderstorms. Hence, it is more than likely that only a few overs of play could be possible, if it rains throughout the day in Brisbane.
What Happens If Rain Washes Out Day 5 Of India Vs Australia Test Match?
If Day 5 of the third Test between India and AUstralia is washed out in Brisbane, then the match will be declared as a draw. Hence, the series will be level 1-1 going into the fourth game in Sydney.
If India manage to win the remaining two games of the series, then they will clinch the series by a margin of 3-1 and automatically qualify for the final of the World Test Championship. On the other hand, if they win at least one of the remaining two games, then they will retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
India Avoid Follow-On On Day 4
Australia scored 445 in the first innings, riding on centuries from Travis Head and Steve SMith, with Jasprit Bumrah managing to get 6 wickets. The Indian batting suffered a collapse, like they have done for the majority of the series. KL Rahul and Ravindr Jadeja scored fighting half-centuries, but as both batters fell, the chances of India avoidiing a follow-on looked bleak. However, batting heroics from Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah ensured they scored 252/9 at the end of Day 4, before play was called off due to bad light.
