Ace India batter Virat Kohli was on Tuesday seen in the nets at the Gabba in Brisbane, looking to get rid of his continued problem in facing deliveries outside the off-stump. The sun was out for a while before the first rain break of the day and Kohli looked to make hay while the sun shone, taking out time to face some quality bowling in the nets after a first-innings disappointment.
According to a report in The Times of India, Kohli was in the nets and faced several balls from pacers Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna, spinner Washington Sundar and the throwdown specialists.
Kohli kept going from one net to another for small sessions against different types of bowling as he looked to get rid of all the issues that had been plaguing him for the past two weeks in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
In the first innings in Brisbane, Kohli was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood off a delivery that was way outside the off-stump, but the star batter went to poke at it and was caught behind. He came back on Tuesday morning to ensure the mistakes didn't follow and made the young bowlers have a go at him, even as a few fans watched him from the stands.
The Times of India report adds that bowling coach Morne Morkel and fielding coach Ryan ten Doeschate were also present during the sessions with Kohli, who had Devdutt Padikkal batting in the side nets. Kohli did play his drives but also left certain deliveries which were being bowled on a good length.
Every time Kohli mishit a drive or any other shot, he went up to the throwdown specialist or the bowler and discussed the delivery and his reaction at length. He did look good in the nets according to the report but all he would need now is to translate those shots on the ground.
