Haris Rauf beats Jasprit Bumrah to win ICC Player of the Month award

Pakistan’s Haris Rauf has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for November 2024 following a series of outstanding bowling performances that propelled his team to their first ODI series victory in Australia since 2002, the ICC press release said.

Pakistan's star pacer defeated India's Jasprit Bumrah and South Africa's Marco Jansen to take the top honor.

Rauf’s explosive pace and match-winning spells earned him 18 wickets across six ODIs and three T20Is, making him a standout performer in a busy month for international cricket.

Rauf’s dominance with the ball was on full display during Pakistan’s tour of Australia, where he played a crucial role in the team’s 2-1 series win.

With an average of 16.61 in ODIs, Rauf picked up 13 wickets in the series, helping Pakistan clinch their first-ever series win Down Under in 22 years.

His career-high 13th position in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings was a direct result of his consistent performances during the tour.

In the second ODI in Adelaide, Rauf delivered a match-winning spell of 5/29, leveling the series for Pakistan and putting them on course for a historic victory.

He followed that up with another strong showing in the series decider in Perth, taking 2/24 and playing a vital role in skittling Australia for just 140 runs.

His performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

Rauf’s successful return to the ODI format came after nearly a year’s absence.

In T20Is, Rauf also excelled, including a remarkable 4/22 performance in Sydney, further cementing his place as one of the world’s premier fast bowlers.
