Mitchell Starc will be one of the biggest pacers to watch out for in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. The Australian star etched his name in history books upon his return to IPL by joining Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 24.75 crore. It was a mini-auction and Starc was sort of confirmed to breach the 20-crore mark once Pat Cummins earned more than that.
It's a mega-auction this time and Starc might not be able to touch the 20-crore mark. But he will surely earn more than Rs 15 crore. The left-arm pacer had a decent IPL 2024 season for KKR.
Starc struggled in the league stage and managed 12 wickets. His economy rate was also on the higher side. Starc delivered back-to-back Player of the Match performances in the qualifier and the final to play a big role in the title win.
In the qualifier against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Starc removed Travis Head, Nitish Reddy and Shahbaz Ahmed in the first 5 overs to leave them reeling at 39/5. SRH could never recover from early blows and managed a total of 159.
In the final against SRH, Starc removed Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi early. Vaibhav Arora got the prized scalp of Travis Head for a duck to put SRH under pressure. The Orange Army only managed a total of 113 on the board.
Starc has proven that he is a big match player and the teams would be keen to get his services. The IPL 2024 season marked Starc's return to IPL after 9 years.
Starc represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2014 and 2015. He joined KKR in the IPL 2018 mega-auction but was ruled out due to an injury. Starc stayed away from IPL auctions after 2018. He is still an all-format player but has now decided to play IPL regularly.
