Rohit Sharma Receives Massive Boost, Star Player Declared Fit Ahead Of Crucial Second Test Against New Zealand (BCCI)

India lost to New Zealand in the first Test as the Kiwis won their first Test match in 36 years on Indian soil. Apart from the loss, Rishabh Pant’s injury ignited a fresh concern ahead of the second Test in Pune.
Pant hurt his knee as a Ravindra Jadeja delivery hit his knee and the wicketkeeper was visibly in pain. Later skipper Rohit Sharma revealed the Delhi Capitals captain suffered an injury on the same knee which was operated on after his car accident.
As quoted by SportsTak, Rohit said, “He’s (Rishabh Pant) had a massive operation on his leg, so we all know what he went through,” Rohit had said after the first Test. “He’s had a lot of minor surgeries, one big surgery on his knee, and he went through a lot of trauma, to be honest, in the last one and a half years. So it’s just about being extra careful, not careful with him. Even when he was batting, he was not comfortably running. He was trying to only put the ball in the stands.”
In a major boost, Rishabh Pant has reportedly been declared fit ahead of the second Test. As per an Indian Express report, the 27 year old has recovered from the injury and is expected to be named in the starting XI.
Despite Pant’s injury, he forged an excellent partnership with Sarfaraz Khan in the second innings as the hosts managed to bridge the gap. But Pant was dismissed for 99 and the remaining Indian batting lineup crashed out like a pack of cards setting up just a 107-run target for the visitors.
Dhruv Jurel replaced Pant behind the wickets but given the latest fitness report, Pant will be raring to go again. The hosts are currently trailing 1-0 in the three match Test series and with an eye in the World Test Championship final, Pant could play a major role in the remaining two Test matches.
