Pakistan allrounder Mohammad Nawaz on Sunday, January 12, shoulder barged Tanzim Hasan Sakib during a Bangladesh Premier League game between the Sylhet Strikers and Khulna Tigers, as a heated exchange began on the field. After Sakib dismissed Nawaz in the 17th over of the innings, the duo were involved in a war of words.
Nawaz was dismissed after he couldn't read a slower delivery bowled by Sakib. As a result, he just managed to chip the ball in the air towards the fielder at third man. Zakir Hasan had no issues in completing the catch.
After dismissing Nawaz, Sakib was seen giving a send-off to the southpaw. The duo then barged shoulders with each other as tempers flew on the pitch. Watch the video here:
Sakib's team finished at the top as the Strikers won the match by just eight runs, riding on Zakir Hasan's unbeaten 75.
Put in to bat first, the Strikers posted a respectable 182/5, thanks to a 44-ball 56 from opener Rony Talukdar and Hasan's innings. Chasing the target, the Tigers were reduced to 47/3 at the end of the powerplay.
Opener William Bosisto and skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz then added 34 runs for the fourth wicket before the latter was dismissed by Ruyel Miah in the 12th over. They were soon reduced to 98/5 in the 14th over before Nawaz and wicketkeeper Mahidul Islam Ankon added 32 runs for the sixth wicket.
The Pakistan allrounder was then dismissed by Sakib in the 17th over and were soon reduced to 138/7 in the 18th over. Ankon and Abu Hider then added 35 runs for the eighth wicket but could just manage 173/9 by the end of their innings.
Both the Tigers and the Strikers both currently stand at four points each, at the fourth and fifth positions.
