The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is well and truly underway and the business end of the campaign is set to begin as the race for the semifinals berths heats up.
The group B in Women's T20 World Cup is wide open as England have already reached four points, but it's very intense in group A. Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team, group leaders New Zealand, Australia, and Pakistan are all on two points with a chance of making it into the semifinals.
The Indian team are currently in fourth place in their group with two points having won against Pakistan but they sustained a defeat earlier to New Zealand. Having begun their T20 Women's World Cup campaign with a loss, the Women in Blue defeated arch-rivals Pakistan to finally pick up their first points on the board.
New Zealand currently sit pretty atop group A with Australia in second place. The top two teams will face off in Sharjah on Tuesday with the winning team taking a big step towards the semifinals.

Here's how the AUS vs NZ fixture could impact the semifinal chances of Indian women's team for the T20 World Cup

First of all, India for their part will need to win both of their remaining matches in the group against Sri Lanka and Australia. Only the top two teams will advance to the semifinals, therefore if New Zealand beat Australia, India can go through to the semifinals but they'd hope that Pakistan cannot win more than one of their remaining matches.
In case Pakistan and India both win their remaining games, and New Zealand prevail against Australia, then the three-way race will be settled by the Net Run Rate (NRR).
A win against New Zealand will make the remaining fixtures a cake walk for Australia but it will boil down to their fixture against India which will be a virtual semifinal for both teams. If India lose to Australia, they will hope for other results to go their way, especially they would want New Zealand to drop points against Pakistan. Furthermore, if Australia beat New Zealand but fumble against Pakistan, it will be a virtual gift for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led unit.
