West Indian batting great, Brian Lara has left out the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, when it comes to the 'Most exciting Indian batters'. Both Virat and Rohit have dominated world cricket for more than a decade now and whenever these two brilliant individuals take the field, people stay glued to their TV sets to observe what new excitement they can bring to the table.
But Lara has actually went onto pick India's future stars, who are making waves for their explosive batting. He praised Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma, highlighting their youth and left-handed batting style. He described their approach to the game as both aggressive and elegant.
“Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma. First of all, they’re left-handers. They’re very young. They play the game in a style, very attacking and very stylish,” he told at the launch of the International Masters League.
“Of course the relationship I have had with them over the last couple of years has been very special. It’s great to see them go from strength to strength,” Lara added.
Lara went onto express confidence in Yashasvi Jaiswal's ability to perform well in any conditions, citing his impressive skills observed in the Caribbean. He acknowledged that while Australian pitches may vary, Jaiswal's strength will enable him to excel in different environments.
“He has got the ability to play in any conditions. I saw him in the Caribbean. Obviously, the pitches in Australia are slightly different, but if you take that sort of strength that you have, you’re going to play good cricket in any conditions. I expect to see him do well'', Lara told.
Jaiswal has become an essential part of the Test team, amassing 929 runs in just eight matches this year at an impressive average of 66.35. His two centuries and six fifties have made him the top run-scorer for India in 2024.
