Former Australia cricketer and 56-Test veteran Simon Katich has said that while the fiasco between Indian cricketers and the local media hasn't gone down well in the Indian camp, they might be mind games that the visitors are trying to play in a crucial moment of the series. Ace India batter Virat Kohli and allrounder Ravindra Jadeja have had their fair share of troubles with the Australian media over the last few days.
While Kohli confronted a female journalist for taking photos of his family without permission, Jadeja was accused by the Aussie media of not entertaining questions in English after a net session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Speaking on Channel 7, Katich said that the incidents between the Indian cricketers and the Australian media were mind games and they were being played because of the marquee tag on the series. He also spoke to SEN Cricket on the same. Watch the video here:
“There’s been a few things unfolding in the last week or so, that haven’t gone down well at that camp. It’s probably just the mind games being played, given the enormity of this series," Katich said while speaking on Channel 7.
“The media are here to promote the game and I don’t know what the Indians are thinking at the moment. That’s their problem," Katich added.
Kohli argued with a female Aussie journalist at the Melbourne airport, over his family being clicked without his permission. The incident occurred when Kohli landed in Melbourne with Anushka Sharma and their children on Thursday.
As per Australian media, a journalist from Channel 7 took a video of the family, which upset Kohli. He was angered about the intrusion into his family's privacy. He approached the lady, urging her to see the pictures and videos that were recorded.
Kohli then asked the lady to delete any pictures or videos of his family, while permitting her to retain any of his single pictures.
