Smriti Mandhana continued to shatter records and she created a world record during the first ODI against West Indies women's cricket team in Vadodara. The India opener is enjoying a purple patch in 2024 and she has been unstoppable with the bat. Mandhana, who had breached the 1500-run mark during the third T20I, became the first women's cricketer to score more than 1600 runs in a year.
Mandhana now holds the record for scoring the most runs in a year in the history of women's cricket. She has scored 1602 runs in 2024 across formats. The India vice-captain has scored 5 centuries and as many half-centuries. India are scheduled to play two more ODIs in 2024 and Mandhana can also breach the 1700-run mark.
Mandhana broke Laura Wolvaardt's record. The South Africa batter has scored 1593 runs in 2024. The South African women's team isn't scheduled to play any match in 2024 now.
