Ruturaj Gaikwad has kicked off the preparations for IPL 2025 off the field by roasting Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain took two digs at the Bengaluru-based franchise at a recent event. Ruturaj took the first dig at RCB by saying that someone from the franchise switched off his mic.
During the event, Ruturaj revealed his memorable moment from IPL was his captaincy debut for CSK. The right-handed batsman didn't forget to mention that CSK defeated RCB in that game. Though RCB defeated CSK in their last league stage game to qualify for the playoffs. CSK couldn't make it to the second round.
Ruturaj didn't have a memorable run as CSK's captain as the Yellow Army failed to make it to the second round. The five-time IPL Champions registered 7 wins from 14 matches to finish at the fifth spot in the season.
RCB managed to qualify for the playoffs but they lost the eliminator against Rajasthan Royals. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final to lift the title for the third time.
Ruturaj aiming for India comeback
Ruturaj Gaikwad would be aiming to make his India comeback and make it to the 2025 Champions Trophy squad. He could force his way into the ODI team by performing well in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The Maharashtra captain didn't have a memorable outing in the first game against Rajasthan and departed for 1. Interestingly, former RCB pace Aniket Choudhary dismissed him in the second over of the game. Maharashtra will face Services in their second game of the tournament on Monday (December 23).
