Batting has let down the Indian team in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy which has been clearly evident in their displays. In the Brisbane Test too, except for KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, the whole batting unit collapsed raising massive questions for the remainder of the Test series.
Bowling has been the high point in the Australia series as Jasprit Bumrah has been unplayable throughout the series. At Gabba, he took a six wicket haul in the first innings and backed it up with three more scalps in the second innings. The 31 year old is now the highest wicket-taker on Australian soil with 53 and he also showed his batting prowess as he alongside Akash Deep played a crucial knock to help India avoid a follow-on.
Mohammed Siraj has also been a regular for the Indian team but he has been on and off in the three Test matches so far. Siraj has been filling in for Mohammed Shami who would have been the preferred choice after Bumrah should he be declared fit.
Brett Lee heaped praises on Bumrah and also credited Siraj for maintaining his momentum so far.
On Fox Sports the former Australian fast bowler said,
“He is world class, Jasprit Bumrah. Unfortunately, they had no Mohammed Shami, but I think the backing of Mohammed Siraj — there has been a bit of conjecture around him — but I think he has bowled really well.
“In my opinion, they have an attack that has some good pace bowlers, but the reason why people say or think he is shouldering the whole load of the attack is that he is so good.
“He is miles ahead of any other bowler, and that is no disrespect to the other bowlers going around, but that is how good he is.”
