Ravichandran Ashwin shocked the cricketing world when he announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket after the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba Cricket Ground in Brisbane. There have been several tributes pouring in for the legendary off-spinner after this shock announcement, and now speculation has been rife as to what he might do now that he has hung up his boots. Rohit Sharma has dropped a massive hint on his future post his retirement.
In the press conference after India managed to draw the fifth Test against Australia, Rohit Sharma hinted that Ravichandran Ashwin will be doing something in cricket broadcasting after hanging up his boots. In his typical funny manner, the Indian captain addressed the media persons saying that Ashwin would be around them.
"Ashwin, I am sure, aap logon ke saath hi rahega woh ek do saal mein (He will be with you [broadcast team] in the next one or two years. So, we will keep bumping into Ash."

R Ashwin Told Me About His Retirement In Perth: Rohit Sharma

In the press conference, Rohit Sharm made the shocking revelation that Ravichandran Ashwin had spoke to him about his retirement when he came during the first Test Match in Perth. However, it was Rohit himself, who convinced him to stay for the pink-ball Test.
"Heard about R Ashwin’s retirement when I came to Perth… he understands what team is thinking, combinations what team is thinking. I convinced him to stay for the pink-ball Test," Rohit said.

Some Decisions Are Very Personal: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma said that some decisions are very personal, and hence a player of the statute of Ravichandran Ashwin deserved to take a decision on his career on his own terms.
“Some decisions are very personal and I don’t think too many questions should be asked. If a player has a choice, he has to be given that choice and somebody like Ashwin, who has been there for us for so many years, is allowed to make these kind of decisions and we as teammates have to respect it. He was very sure about what he wanted to do and the team completely backed his thought process,” Rohit said.
