ICC meeting on CT 2025 deferred to Dec 7

The ICC meeting to decide the fate of the Champions Trophy was set to be held on December 5, but has now been postponed to December 7.

Reports suggest that India has shown no interest in the proposed "partnership" or "fusion formula" with Pakistan for the event, leaving the impasse unresolved.

After this, the PCB sources communicated a clear response to the ICC: the meeting should take place only when a final decision is necessary, and India's stance should be clarified first.

As per sources, the PCB is set to come back to the apex board with its final stand on the upcoming 50-over tournament.

Meanwhile, PCB chief Naqvi in Dubai for ICC board meeting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi have arrived in Dubai to attend the ICC board meeting.

The meeting, which is being described as introductory by the new ICC Chairman, Jay Shah, is expected to focus on various important issues, including discussions about the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Key decisions related to the tournament's schedule and other matters are expected to be made during the meeting.

However, previous ICC Board meeting was been brief, it lasted as little as 15 minutes. This has raised questions about the depth of the discussions and decision-making during such meetings.

Recently, the PCB had reportedly agreed to the BCCI's proposal for a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, where India's matches would be played in Dubai. However, the situation took a turn when the PCB demanded that the hybrid model be applied to all ICC events scheduled in India until 2031.

This included high-profile tournaments such as the Women's ODI World Cup in 2025, the T20 World Cup in 2026 (co-hosted with Sri Lanka), the 2029 Champions Trophy, and the 2031 ODI World Cup.

According to a report from The Telegraph India, the BCCI had rejected the PCB's conditions, stating that a hybrid model was unnecessary for ICC events held in India, citing the absence of any security threat in the country.
