KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • India will tour South Africa for 4 T20Is
  • Ishan Kishan could make his Team India return
  • The Test-bound players will not be part of the touring party
After conquering Bangladesh at home, Team India will now host New Zealand in a three-match Test series. India's T20I squad did not include any Test players and the white-ball players will make their return in November. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the Men in Blue will fly to South Africa for a four-match T20I series. The four T20Is are scheduled to be played on November 8, 10, 13 and 15.
India whitewashed Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series and the Ajit Agarkar-headed selection committee might not make many changes in the squad. Will Ishan Kishan make his return? Is Shivam Dube fit? Here we have a look at India's likely squad for South Africa T20I series -
Openers
Abhishek Sharma was the sole frontline opener in the team for the Bangladesh series and he is expected to retain his spot. Ruturaj Gaikwad could be in contention but he might be sent to Australia with the India A team. He was reportedly not included in the squad for the Bangladesh T20I series so he could play Ranji Trophy.
Sanju Samson is confirmed to retain his spot and will be the second opener in the team. He punched his ticket for South Africa with a century in the 3rd T20I against Bangladesh.
Ishan Kishan could be the third opener in the team. The wicketkeeper-batsman has made his return to domestic cricket and he is now playing Ranji Trophy. He was dropped from the central contract list for skipping the last round of the Ranji Trophy earlier in 2024.
Middle-order
Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead Team India. He and Rinku Singh will form India's middle order. Rinku is more of a finisher.
All-rounders
India have plenty of all-rounders. Hardik Pandya, Nitish Reddy, Riyan Parag and Washington Sundar are expected to be four all-rounders in the team. If fit, Shivam Dube will make his return and replace Tilak Verma.
Bowlers
Arshdeep Singh will continue to lead the pace attack. Mayank Yadav should retain his place along with Harshit Rana. Mayank played in all three T20Is against Bangladesh while Harshit missed out on making his debut in the third game due to a viral infection. Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakaravarthy will be two frontline spinners in the team.
India's probable squad for South Africa T20Is: Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Reddy, Shivam Dube, Ishan Kishan/Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy
