Ace India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's midnight post on 'X' on the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction has kept social media thinking overnight. He has just made a remarkable comeback to Tests in the recent two-match series against Bangladesh on home soil.
Pant was out of cricketing action for over a year after he suffered major injuries in a car accident in December 2022 but his comeback to the field has been nothing short of magical, as he capped it off with a brilliant century against Bangladesh in the first Test last month.
Pant's journey has been nothing short of inspirational as his comeback to international cricket was marked by India's win at the T20 World Cup in June. But with the upcoming auction, his post has kept quite a few fans thinking.
"If go to the auction. will I be sold or not and for how much," Pant asked on 'X'.
An 'X' user commented, "20cr+ definitely without any doubt". Another user commented, "If The Total Budget is 120 Crs Then Rishabh Pant Will Easily Fetch Over 18 Crores. Indian Player, Captaincy Option, Wicket-Keeper, Six Hitter, Star International Player".
Notably, reports have earlier suggested that Pant met with Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal in Mumbai before the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai to finalise his contract talks.
"Pant's current IPL salary is Rs 16 crore, but this figure is expected to go up based on the total player purse allowed to a franchise and the retention fee guidelines set by the BCCI," a report in Cricbuzz said.
According to BCCI's latest retention rules, a franchise can retain a maximum of six players and the maximum retention price can be Rs 18 crores. The report added that Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav can be the second and third retentions for Delhi, worth Rs 14 crores and Rs 11 crores.
